Since 1814, Hutschenreuther has been synonymous with outstanding porcelain craftsmanship and meticulously detailed designs. As one of Germany's most renowned porcelain brands, Hutschenreuther traces its roots back to Thuringia, where the iconic lion became its distinctive backstamp.

Founded in 1814 by Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther, the family business quickly developed into one of Germany's leading porcelain manufacturers. Much of Hutschenreuther's success can be attributed to his father, Johann Heinrich Hutschenreuther, owner of the Wallendorf porcelain manufactory in Lichte, Thuringia, who passed on his extensive knowledge of porcelain production to his son.

Since then, the Hutschenreuther lion has become an enduring symbol of quality, heritage and timeless elegance. Beyond serving as the brand's hallmark on every porcelain piece, the lion also inspired the famous Lion Head Tureen from the Maria Theresia collection and remains inseparably linked to the brand's history.

Following the insolvency of Hutschenreuther AG, Rosenthal acquired the brand together with selected designs and production lines. At the same time, the company's headquarters were relocated to Selb, home to Rosenthal's main production facilities.
